LogMeIn has revealed that IT leaders are “increasingly concerned” about security and scalability remote working tools which were adopted at the beginning of the pandemic.
The study conducted by IDG, surveyed nearly 600 executives from across the US, EMEA, and APAC, ranging from IT managers to CIO and CTO, and including nearly 200 respondents from the US.
The results showed that 65% of those surveyed were “actively consolidating” remote work tools, citing “the need” for ease of administration, ease of use, and scalability.
Additionally, the surge in remote work reportedly exposed 66% of respondents to cyber risks, with IT help desks “struggling to securely support workers”.
A further 45% claimed that they would rely exclusively on “unsecured” home home Wi-Fi networks in 2021. 60% of respondents said they were considering increasing investment in remote work tools, with the average expenditure expected to grow by 21% this year.
Barbara Call, senior director of content strategy and operations at IDG, said: “The research indicates that as companies transitioned to remote work, there is an increasing need for remote access and support solutions that offer more security while maintaining user productivity.
“Companies need to invest for the future, not just the pandemic. The respondents say they should consider consolidating their remote work portfolio in order to focus on solutions that reduce IT headaches and remove complexity from day-to-day roles.”
Dave Campbell, head of remote solutions group LogMeIn, added: “This survey shows companies are clearly re-evaluating their remote work tools and will need to make changes this year. They are finding that it is vital to consider the ways the tools will impact their employees and help desk staff.”
